Gemports Colored Gemstone Price Index (GPI) is a collaborative initiative by four leading organization including Gems & Jewelry Trade Association of China (GAC), National Gemstone Testing Center (NGTC) China, The Gems, Jewelry, and Precious Metal Confederation of Thailand (GJPCT), and Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA).

The Gemports Ruby & Sapphire Price List is compiled using data gathered from various sources within Ruby & Sapphire industry. Here’s an overview of how the price list is developed:

  1. Market Research: The GAC, NGTC, GJPCT, and TGJTA groups employ a team of researchers and analysts who gather data from a wide range of sources within the ruby & sapphire market. This includes information from ruby & sapphire miners, manufacturers, cutters, wholesalers, and retailers.

  2. Main Ruby & Sapphire Trading Centers: The GAC, NGTC, GJPCT, and TGJTA groups maintain relationships with major ruby & sapphire trading centers around the world, such as Bangkok, SriLanka, Columbia and many others. These centers provide valuable data on ruby & sapphire transactions and market trends.

  3. Transaction Data: The GAC, NGTC, GJPCT, and TGJTA groups collect data on actual ruby & sapphire transactions, including the specifics of each ruby & sapphire sold (carat weight, color, origin, treatment clarity, brilliance, cut), as well as the price at which it was sold.
