Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association Leads Gemports Research Team to Chanthaburi Gemstone Market

Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association led Gemports research team on a survey trip to the gemstone market in Chanthaburi province. The purpose was to gather data and improve the operations of Gemports team. Gemports is a reference pricing platform for colored gemstones, developed since 2019 with the goal of promoting transparency, building confidence, and educating gemstone buyers.

This field visit was led by Mr. Somchai Phornchindarak, President of the Gem Jewelry and Precious Metal Association Confederation of Thailand, along with Mr. Chompol Phornchindarak, 1st Vice President of Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association. Gemports pricing standards team included Mr. YE Zhibin, President of the Gem and JewelryTrade Association of China (GAC), Mr. Shi Hongyue, Full-time Vice President of GAC, and Dr. Lu Taijin, Chief Scientist of Delegation of National Gems and Jewelry Testing Center (NGTC) – China.

Additionally, the team visited the Sung Gems Co., Ltd. factory, one of the members of Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association. They were welcomed by Mr. Adisak Thavornviriyanant, President of the Chanthaburi Gem and Jewelry Traders Association, representing gem and jewelry businesses in Chanthaburi province.

Gemports team gathered data on the production and marketing of colored gemstones from key global sources such as China, Hong Kong, India, Thailand, Myanmar, and Africa. This information will be analyzed to develop the Gemports reference prices, aiming to establish transparent and reliable pricing standards for colored gemstones. Gemports has become a reference source and standard for those interested in gemstones, utilizing an international data collection and analysis process.
